OWEN BROWN: Myriorama

Opening Day - Saturday, October 14, 2023 — 5 to 8pm | artist will be present | free and open to the public

Exhibition on view through Saturday, November 11, 2023

Local Minneapolis artist Owen Brown’s new body of work in Myriorama showcases 451 new 12” x 12” abstracts on panel. Brown has been working on Myriorama for over a year, diligently producing a panel (sometimes two!) per day, and we are excited to show his special creations.

There’s something for everyone as the gallery walls are covered head-to-toe with these creative pieces featuring various styles, palettes and media. Each 12” x 12” work is affixed with Velcro, so that viewers are able to detach and rearrange both orientation and location within the gallery as they see fit—a concept Brown bases on myriorama, 19th century illustrated cards that children could endlessly arrange and rearrange to form different pictures. The gallery show is interactive, as the artist encourages viewers to move the panels around and create “new art” on the gallery walls.

Each 12” x 12” panel is $95. A catalogue with images and an essay written by Ulysses Dietz, former chief curator of the Newark Museum of Art, will be for sale at the gallery or online: https://owenbrownartist.com/product/myriorama-catalogue/.
